Amsterdam, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill baseball team took to the road on Wednesday evening falling to the host Dutchman of Union College 6-5 in non-league action via a walk-off sacrifice fly under the lights at Shuttleworth Park. With the loss the Fighting Tigers are now 19-14 overall on the season while the host Dutchman move to 13-14 overall.
After moving out to a 5-3 lead after six innings the Cobleskill bullpen could not hold the advantage as the Dutchman tallied once in each of the last three innings scoring the winning run on a ninth inning one-out sacrifice fly off the bat of sophomore center fielder Thomas Parisi. Logan Hutter, Smithtown, N.Y., Smithtown West High School, who went 2-for-4 with a home run three RBI and a stolen base and senior shortstop
Eddy Garcia, Bronx, N.Y., World View High School, who went 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and a career high of four stolen base on the evening. First year catcher Dylan Pohl, East Meadow, N.Y., East Meadow High School, was also a factor in the game with a solo home run as part of a 1-for-4 effort at the plate.
Cobleskill will next be in action on Saturday April 30 when they travel to SUNY Canton in Canton, N.Y. for a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) doubleheader versus the Kangaroos with first pitch scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
