Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill softball team has qualified for the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship Tournament to be hosted by the SUNY Polytechnic Institute at the college's Wildcat Softball Field from Sunday May 7 thru Sunday May 9. The Fighting Tigers placed third overall in the league's Western Division with an 11-23 overall record including a 6-6 record in NAC action to earn one of the six bids to the tournament with the winner receiving he league's automatic bid to the 2023 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
The Fighting Tigers will be in action at the event starting on Sunday May 7 at 12:00 p.m. when they meet the number three seeded Terriers of Thomas College who went 14-13 overall on the year with a 7-3 record in conference play.
The winner of the game will then meet the tournament's number two seeded Western Division Champion Wildcats of the SUNY Polytechnic Institute who went 20-5 overall with an 11-1 record in league action at 4:00 p.m.
The loser will meet the loser of Sunday's 10:00 a.m. opening game between the number four seeded Wildcats of Cazenovia College who finished 19-15 with a 10-2 conference record and the number five seeded Owls of the University of Maine Presque Isle who closed the regular season at 11-20 overall with a 5-5 conference record on Monday May 8 at 9:00 p.m.
The winner of Sunday's 10:00 a.m. game will meet the tournament's number one seed the NAC Eastern Division Champion Vikings of Husson University who finished 27-12-1 overall including a 10-0 record in conference action.
The Fighting Tigers will be making their third consecutive post tournament appearance and first under current head coach
Morgan Flamholtz.
