Melbourne, Fla.: The SUNY Cobleskill softball team closed out their first day of competition at the 2024 Space Coast Games by dropping a 12-4 decision to the Lady Crusaders of Dallas Christina College (DCC). With the loss the Fighting Tigers fall to 0-2 overall on the season to open the year.
After the Fighting Tigers took a 2-1 lead after one inning, the Lady Crusaders struck for 11 runs in the second inning to put the contest out of reach and record the victory as DCC touched up Cobleskill pitchers for 12 hits and six walks on the day.
Offensively Cobleskill was paced by senior first baseman
Alexis Miranda, Nashua, N.H., Nashua High School, who went 1-for-3 with a triple, two RBI and a run scored and by junior designated player
Mackenzie Wendelken, Stuyvesant, N.Y., Ichabod Crane High School, who was 1-for-3 with an RBI. First-year catcher
Aliyah Neeser, Forest Lake, Minn., Forest Lake Area High School, as also a factor at the plate for the Orange & Black going 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI.
The Fighting Tigers will return to action at the Space Coast Invitational on Tuesday when they meet the Lions of Florida Memorial University at 12:15 p.m. followed by a 2:30 meeting with the Flames of the College of Saint Mary of Nebraska.
