Fighting Tiger Baseball Falls Twice in Florida to Ramapo Road Runners 6-5 & 9-1

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Auburndale, Fla.: The SUNY Cobleskill baseball team suffered through a blue Monday at the 2024 RussMatt Central Florida Invitational losing both ends of a doubleheader to the Road Runners of Ramapo University by scores of 6-5 and 9-1. With the losses the Fighting Tigers fall to 3-10 overall on the year while the Road Runners move to 5-4 overall on the campaign.

In the opener the Fighting Tigers could not overcome three errors which led to three unearned runs to spoil a solid pitching effort by senior right hander Andrew Jarkow Glen Head, N.Y., North Shore High School, who allowed three earned runs in 6.2 innings of work while striking out five hitters.

Junior second baseman Stephen Tejada, Queens, N.Y., North Shore High School, turned in a strong effort at the plate going 3-for-3 with two RBI, a run scored and a stolen base while sophomore first baseman Dylan Schwarm, Cooper City, Fla., South Plantation High School, returned to his home state to go 2-for-3 with a run scored.

The nightcap was all Road Runners as Ramapo scored early and often to post the victory holding the Fighting Tigers to only two hits in the contest.

Cobleskill will return to action at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational on Tuesday when they square off in doubleheader action versus the Eagles of SUNY Brockport  beginning at 8:30 AM.
