Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill Athletic Department announced today that baseball team member senior Cael Atkins, Wallkill, N.Y., Wallkill High School, has been named the athletic program's 2023-24 Sportsman-of-the-Year. The award is given to the Fighting Tiger male student-athlete who by his action on the playing field, in the classroom and in the campus community has exemplified the code of sportsmanship and leadership.
 
Over the course of his career the Fighting Tiger reserve catcher was a part of three North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Western Division Championships while serving as the baseball program's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representative and an active member of the campus chapter of Ducks Unlimited.
 
According to Cobleskill Head Baseball Coach Austin Straub, the Wallkill, N.Y. has been an outstanding member of the program as well as a prime example of what a collegiate student-athlete should be.
 
"Cael's embodies everything that a student-athlete should aspire to be. Not only has he been a part of our program's success, his commitment being successful in the classroom and among the campus community is second to none."
