Four Fighting Tigers Earn NAC Baseball All-Conference Honors

Cobleskill, NY: The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) announced its 2025 baseball all-conference awards, with four SUNY Cobleskill players earning all-conference honors and a fifth recognized for sportsmanship.

The Fighting Tigers placed two players on the NAC First Team and two on the Second Team. Catcher Korin Laurilla (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) and pitcher Dylan Schwam (Cooper City, FL/South Plantation) received First Team honors, while senior outfielder Zach Ducorsky (Oceanside, NY) and junior shortstop Jeffrey Gutierrez (Bronx, NY) were named to the Second Team. Head Coach Austin Straub praised the selections as a reflection of the program's commitment to player development and high standards.

"Having four players selected to the NAC All-Conference Team continues a rich tradition of postseason recognition for our program," said Straub. "We pride ourselves on development, and this recognition proves we have great players who embrace coaching and uphold our standard of work ethic."

Laurilla anchored the Cobleskill offense and made a major impact in his breakout season. He led the team with 25 RBIs, tallying 32 hits, 15 runs, five doubles, and one triple in 94 at-bats. He posted a slugging percentage of .415 and an on-base percentage of .429.

"Korin became a challenge for opposing pitchers, settling into the number three spot in our lineup and leading the team in RBIs," Straub said. "He brought high energy, stepped up defensively behind the plate, and led the NAC in throwing out runners. He made key plays in big moments, and I'm truly proud of his growth."

Schwam, a converted position player, emerged as the team's ace in his first season on the mound. He posted a 3-2 overall record, including a perfect 3-0 mark in NAC play. He recorded a 4.86 ERA, 25 strikeouts, and allowed only 18 earned runs over 33.1 innings. He ranked among the conference's top five in ERA, earned runs allowed, and total runs allowed.

"Dylan's transition to the mound this season was remarkable," Straub said. "He dedicated himself to becoming a dominant pitcher in the NAC, and this First Team honor reflects his talent, perseverance, and commitment to the process."

A fixture in the lineup throughout his career, Ducorsky capped one of the most accomplished careers in program history with his third straight all-conference selection. The speedy senior led Cobleskill in hits with 44, runs with 33, batting average at .367, and stolen bases with 27. He also tied for the team lead in doubles with eight and triples with two. He finished the season with a slugging percentage of .467 and an on-base percentage of .428 and led the entire NAC in stolen bases.

"Zach was the catalyst of our offense and goes down as arguably the greatest hitter in program history," Straub said. "He's our all-time leader in hits, runs, walks, stolen bases, and on-base percentage. It's been an honor to coach him, and his legacy will elevate our program for years to come."

Gutierrez made an immediate impact in his first season with the Tigers. He hit .338 with a slugging percentage of .486 and an on-base percentage of .372, collecting 25 hits, 17 RBIs, four doubles, two triples, and one home run. His sure-handed defense helped the Tigers set a new program record for most double plays turned in a season.

"Jeffrey added stability to our infield and production to our lineup," Straub said. "His fielding and timely hitting stood out, and he joins a strong line of infielders from our program to earn all-conference recognition. We're fortunate to have him."

Also recognized was senior Trevor Grieb (Red Hook, NY) who was named to the 2025 NAC Baseball Sportsmanship Team. The award honors players who display outstanding sportsmanship and a positive impact on the game.

"Trevor is the embodiment of everything we want in a student-athlete," Straub said. "Despite battling multiple serious injuries, he never gave up—returning to play, leading vocally, and supporting his teammates and fellow athletes across campus. His story of perseverance and leadership will serve as an example in our program for years to come."
