Fighting Tigers Honor Seniors with Senior Day Finale Win Versus Thomas

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Cobleskill, N.Y.: SUNY Cobleskill baseball took center stage at Fighting Tiger Field on Sunday, hosting Thomas College (ME) for a North Atlantic Conference doubleheader. After a tough 6-1 loss in the opener, the Fighting Tigers roared back in the afternoon, dominating with an 11-5 victory. The split moved Cobleskill to 16-16 overall and an impressive 13-5 in conference play, showing the team's resilience and determination. The Fighting Tigers' offense came alive in game two, while Connor Mulligan's complete-game performance on the mound showcased the talent and heart of SUNY Cobleskill baseball.

Game 1: The Fighting Tigers opened the day on their home field, but ran into a dominant pitching performance from Thomas's Kyle Delano. Despite Cobleskill's best efforts, Delano allowed only three hits and one unearned run across seven innings, striking out seven and walking two on 94 pitches.

Cobleskill's lone run in the opener came in the first inning. Jeffrey Gutierrez got the offense going with a single, advanced on a wild pitch and a passed ball, and scored on a Ryan Lansing sacrifice fly. Although the Tigers took an early 1-0 lead, Thomas quickly tied it up in the second and kept Cobleskill off the board for the remainder of the game.

Thomas broke the game open in the sixth with three runs, taking advantage of a pair of walks and a hit by pitch. Despite the Fighting Tigers' efforts to contain the rally, Thomas added insurance runs in the seventh to seal the opener.
Tanner Wood started for Cobleskill, pitching 5? innings and allowing three earned runs on three hits. Hunter Smith and Na'eem Bornstein-Brown came on in relief. Gutierrez led the Tigers at the plate, going 2-for-4 and sparking the offense.

Game 2: The Fighting Tigers responded in the nightcap with energy and determination, quickly taking control in the early innings. Connor Mulligan anchored the team with a complete-game effort, pitching all seven innings and limiting Thomas to six hits while striking out six. The win improved Mulligan's record to 3-3 and gave Cobleskill an important conference victory.

Although Thomas took an early 2-0 lead in the first, Cobleskill answered right back. Cole Platt doubled to start the bottom half, Gutierrez drove him in, and Tony Woodie delivered a clutch two-run single to give the Tigers a 3-2 advantage. The quick response set the tone for the rest of the game.

Cobleskill's offense continued to shine, putting up three runs in the second inning, capped by another two-RBI single from Woodie. When Thomas cut the lead to 6-5 in the fifth, the Tigers responded with a four-run outburst in their half of the inning. Key hits from Ryan Lansing, Zach Papanikolatos, and a bases-clearing triple by Logan Firment put the game out of reach.

Logan Firment led the offense, going 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBI. Tony Woodie was on base four times and drove in two, while Zach Papanikolatos added two hits, an RBI, and two runs scored. Gutierrez continued his strong day at the plate and on the bases, finishing 2-for-5 with three runs scored. The balanced attack highlighted the depth and excitement of SUNY Cobleskill baseball.
