La Plume, Pa..: The SUNY Cobleskill men's lacrosse team opened the 2024 season on Saturday afternoon by dropping a 23-7 loss the host Giants of Keystone College in non-league action. With the defeat the Fighting Tigers open the season at 0-1 while the Giants are now 1-0 to open the year.
 
The Fighting Tigers struggled throughout the afternoon in the face-off circle as the Giants held a 23-10 advantage on the day while dominating in ground balls by a 47-20 margin.
 
The Orange & Black was led in scoring by junior midfielder Albert Sippio, Syracuse, N.Y., ITC, who had two goals and an assist along with four ground balls and first-year midfielder Alex Baker, Guilford, Vt. Brattleboro Union High School, who also scored twice to go with an assist and four ground balls. Senior attackman Sean D'Amaro, Northport, N.Y., Northport High School, also turned in a solid effort on the day with a goal and two assists.
 
Cobleskill will next be in action on Saturday March 2 when they travel to Chicopee, MA for a non-conference meeting with the Blazers of Elms College starting at 1:00 p.m.
