SUNY COBLESKILL SOFTBALL SEEDED FOURTH FOR 2024 NORTH ATLANTIC CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT
Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's softball team has been seeded fourth for the 2024 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championships. Husson University claimed the number one overall seed and will host the double-elimination NAC Softball Tournament set to begin Thursday, May 9, through Saturday, May 11, at Robert & Frances O'Keefe Softball Field in Bangor, Maine.
With the top seed in the East Division serving as the host this year, Husson dominated in the regular season going undefeated in NAC play (12-0 NAC East) with a 32-4 overall record. The Eagles are currently ranked second in Region I.
Joining the Eagles out of the East Division are University of Maine-Farmington and Thomas College. The Beavers finished second in the East (10-2 NAC East, 18-9 overall) and were seeded as number three overall with the Terriers placing third in the East (5-7 NAC East, 7-21 overall) and earning the number six seed in the tournament.
The SUNY Poly Wildcats finished with a NAC West Division record of 14-1 (22-8 overall) earning the top seed out of the West and the number two seed overall. Also coming out of the West are SUNY Cobleskill (11-3 NAC West, 19-15 overall) and SUNY Morrisville (10-5 NAC West, 14-17 overall), claiming the number four and number five seeds respectively in the tournament.
Seeding and selection for the 2024 NAC Softball Tournament were first done based on divisional records only.
The six qualifying tournament teams were then re-seeded number one through number six based on a composite of each team's overall winning percentage plus its strength of schedule.
The seeded Fighting Tigers will face off against number five seeded SUNY Morrisville in the tournament opener on Thursday, May 9. Number three seed University of Maine-Farmington and number six seed Thomas College will follow in Thursday's second game. The winners of those two battles will take on number one Husson and number two SUNY Poly to round out day one games. Game times for all tournament's games will be determined on Monday, May 6, and posted on the NAC website.
