Louisville, Ky.: The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced today that three members of the 2024 SUNY Cobleskill softball team have been named to the NFCA/All-American Scholar-Athlete Team. Senior outfielder
Ashley Phelps, Lima, N.Y., Honeoye Falls-Lima High School/Genesee Community College, a Canine Management major, junior shortstop Kaliee DiGiacco, Spencerport, N.Y., Spencerport High School/Monroe Community College, an Animal Science major and junior catcher
Mackenzie Wendelken, Stuyvesant, N.Y., Ichabod Crane High School, a Cybersecurity major were the Fighting Tigers. 2024 honorees.
In order to be eligible, a student-athlete must achieve a 3.5 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale for the 2023-24 academic year.
According to Fighting Tiger Head Softball Coach Megan Flamholtz this recognition is well earned by her talented trio.
"It was great to see the three of them to be honored with this achievement. They span across difficult majors on campus and were able to excel in them, while helping the team see athletic success."
This season the Fighting Tigers posted a 19-17 overall record including a 12-3 record versus North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opponents to qualify for the NAC Championship Tournament for the fourth consecutive season.
Celebrating 40 years in 2023, the NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association) is the professional organization for fastpitch softball coaches. Known for its highly-regarded Awards Program, the NFCA also educates and supports softball coaches on a variety of different levels: from NFCA podcasts to a comprehensive drills database, to in-person events and a National Convention.
